2009 Racing Season: 2009 marked Alex's rookie year in the Junkyard Warrior series at Barre, VT's Thunder Road Speedbowl. He drove the Whitcomb Aviation/Hess' Used Cars #78 Junkyard Warrior. On the fuel of 14 top tens in 16 starts, Alex finished the year 7th in points. He managed two podiums in his first year, and was voted Most Popular Driver for 2009.
2010 Racing Season: In 2010, Alex ran for Rookie of the Year in the Allen Lumber Street Stock division. He was plagued by early season mechanical failures with the new car, causing many early retirements, and some races not started at all. However, supported by some brand new sponsors and some great teammates, he rolled to two top fives (fourth, and fifth), two more top tens, and finished the year 19th overall in points, and third amongst rookies, gaining momentum for 2011.
Plans for 2011: Alex will once again be in the #78 Union Mutual Ford Mustang, hopefully for a full schedule depending on Teach For America plans.
